5 speed lugs out of first gear when starting moving in morning?

The weather is not cold, but the car has sat overnight. I have to give more gas and get higher rev to accomplish shift to second. It stops lugging while shifting out of first after driving for about 5 minutes. Other shifts are okay. Is it in need of a fluid, plugs or is it my clutch? Clutch is depressed as normal. Car is a 98 Toyota.
