What are the drag forces on a c boat ?

uming there is no wind blowing and there is no water current in c. How to calculate the drag forces acting on a boat if total weight of boat and submerged surface area of the boat are known. Speed can be umed at 5 Kmph. Are the drag forces (friction with water) directly proportional to submerged surface area ? How can they be minimized ?
