Lcd insignia snowy picture?

hey everyone i returned a samsung 32in 720p because it was making a high pitch squeal noise when off which got really annoying. So i decided to try the 37in insignia 720p and standared channels seem to be snowy while when i play my 360 and games the pic is fine. on dvd its mostly good gonna check couple more movies to vertify. But is it snowy because its standard pic? because on dtv hd channels the picture is amazing. So is it that im to close to the tv or is that how it is. Im thinking bout exchanging it for some other tv. Any help would be appreciated and thanks.
